Xbox One Launches In 13 Countries On November 22

Microsoft's next console launches seven days after the PlayStation 4.

The Xbox One will hit store shelves on November 22, according to a blog post by Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb. This is just one week after the PlayStation 4's November 15 launch date in North America, but one week before the November 29 launch date in Europe, making a nice, international next-gen console sandwich.

The Xbox One will be rolling out in "initial launch markets" on the 22nd, with Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, the UK, and the US getting the console first. As we reported last month, eight of the countries that were planned to be included in this initial launch (Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Sweden, and Switzerland) will get the console at some unannounced point in 2014. Japan and some other Asian markets are due to get the console before the end of 2014, though again we have no specific dates to share.

This news comes just hours after it was revealed that the Xbox One would be getting a a CPU clock speed boost prior to launch and that the system was going "into full production," which should hopefully mean that Microsoft can get consoles out to everyone who pre-ordered them (and then some) in its initial launch markets. As we've previously reported, the new console should land with 23 launch-day titles when it's finally here.
