Nintendo Announced The New 3DS And 3DS XL

Nintendo preffered not to announce the coming of a brand new console, instead she 'd rather update the already existed ones, so they announced the New 3DS and the New 3DS XL (in Japan it is called 3DS LL).

Both models come with 2 new shoulder buttons (ZL and ZR) that they are located next to the old ones, with a new analog stick that the company names C-Stick and it is next to the secondary screen and right above  the four - that are new and colorful - command buttons, and with new faster proccessors while the 3D imaging is improved as well.

According to Nintendo, the new processors that feed the new 3DS and 3DS XL, they be offering only a faster browsing to the eShop but they will improve the performanceto certain titles offering improved gaming quality when it comes to the graphics part. (for instance, Xenoblade Chronicles that will come to new 3DS and new 3DS XL it won't run to the previous consoles).

The new Nintendo 3DS avails a 3.88 inches screen (the secondary has a diagonal 3.33 inches), while the 3DS XL, has a 4.88 inches screen (the second one has 4.18). Both models has a microSD slot while they also come with the NFC technology (the combatibility with the Amibo accessories may be regarded well known)

Those 2 portable consoles will be published on the 11th of October and they will cost $155 (3DS) and $180 (3DS XL) in Japan, but in Europe they will arrive not before 2015. The New Nintendo 3DS  will come in white and black while 3DS XL in metallic blue and metallic black.

Far Cry Faulty Graphics Fixed

Though i overcame the problem i mentioned in my last post there were another one almost immediately. When i started playing the game i could see nothing but total blue around. The sound were woking perfectly but the graphics were obviously screwed. If u experience the same problem do this little thing

1. Go here and download and install all of the update packs. You shader 3.0 will be working fine then and you will be able to play in full graphics!

Far Cry Fatal Error 1603 Fixed

Its in my bad luck i guess that the half of the games that i purchase to be problematic! Damn you PC, you and ur f**ing incompatibilities, bugs etc.

Having bought Far Cry quiet recently i just tried to install and guess what?! When you finish with the install wiszard parameters and the beloved bar is ready to fill ..VOILA! Fatal Error 1603! Though internet is free and you can say what ever you want i ll try to keep my mouth shut and i wont say how much i love Microsft and Ubisoft right now!

The truth is I didnt googled the problem too much i just tried something myself and it worked so here is the solution and i invite you to try it to and see what happens. Farcry was released in 2004 and most of the users then we were using WinXP so I though it was a simple compatibility and administrator problem. So here is what you have to do:

1. Go to "My Computer" right click on the cd icon and click "Open"
2. There you will see several files and among them a "setup" one.
3. Right click on it and select properties then select the 2nd tab "combatibility"
4. There there is an unchecked boc that reads "run this program in combatibility mode for". Check it and click ok
5. Do exactly the same with the FarCry icon (the one that is Windows Installer Package, not the application one) and click ok
6. Now right click again on "setup" and click "Run as administrator"

I did all of the above and the game installed just fine. (maybe the steps though from 1 to 5 are unnecessary but it wont harm to be done). Enjoy!

The Last Remnant Review (PC)

Genre: JRPG
Developer: Square Enix
Publisher: Square Enix
Release Year: 2008
System: PC, Xbox, PS3

It seems that SquareEnix tries to re-live the thriumph of its golden era (I dont have to say which one that is), while adding some new features in its games but not so succesfully I am afraid. I believe that the biggest mistake that the developers make is that they never listen to what the audience has to propose or even if they do they screw up in the end. Here is The Last Remnant a jrpg with turn based battles that feature some RTS elements. More in depth we have:

PLOT: 8.5/10

The plot is quite classic yet very enjoyable with the classic fantasy world and its kingdoms. In the first intro we see Rush rushing into a battlefield while he searches for his freshly kidnapped sister! In the fictional world of TLR, there are several races such as the Mitras, the Yamas, the Qsitis and the Sovanis. With a few words the plot unfolds around "Remnants" that are ancient powerful magic relics that possess immense magic powers and have been the cause for many wars throughout the history. Each Remnant is bound to a human and only he can use its powers. If a Remnant stays inactive for some time it can spawn monsters! Enough said, I won't do any more spoilers. Play it yourselves!

GAMEPLAY: 6/10

In TLR you get to control a youth named Rush. You venture in 3D invironments in towns and dungeons while the city and wolrd maps are simple images (kinda .. "Naaaaahh" to me).

The PC version of the game (it is published for Xbox and PS3 as well) has some issues when it comes to the controls part! For instance when you are in a shop and browse through the menu of available items pressing the UP and DOWN arrows besides the highlighted item changes, also the camera is changing angles. Which means that they have put two different functions in a single button! Quite convenient huh?! Damn no! There is not any visible effort  to rewrite the buttons from Xbox to pc but instead its like playing the game through an emulator, for instance you are prompted to hit "A" while you must hit "SPACE"! With other words it is like the company makes you buy an original Xbox controller to make your life easier! The in game menu follows the standards of older SquareEnix games where you will find sub menus as "equip", "party formation etc.

The enemies are visible on the screen and you can ambush them avoid them or get ambushed (you dont wanna do that). Well here comes the sad part! The battle system thought it seems quite promising it ends to be very boring one sided and soooo automated! Its seems like the developers would like to make it extremely simple yet strangely difficult to win a battle sometimes. What do i mean? Here is the thing. When you enter the battle there is no option of escape!! The player has to choose between some automated commands like "attack", or "back em up" or "attack with combat arts". Seriously? All you have to be careful about is not to get flanked (amonst enemies) and all is great! i mean come on?! what happened to equipping/using magic or using items manually or choose characters for their own specific abilities and stuff like that!? Many will say that TLR differs cos it is more like strategy when it comes to the battle part but i disagree! Even if it is that way its quite noobish because i dont know if it is just me but i dont see anything strategic there or anything that would related to Rome Total War for instance (there are the units instead of single characters but thats just not enough)! Unfortunately the gameplay isnt its strong part!

MUSIC/ATMOSPHERE: 8/10

The music part is one of its strong I guess, and each town dungeon and so on has its own music. It is very pompous and magnificent at parts and manages to get you quite well in the mood.

GRAPHICS: 9.5/10

Graphics are wuite detailed and "clean" with lots of colors and drawn and designed with creativity and talent! The only thing is that sometimes it gives me the impression that there is so much symmetry especially in towns!

OVERALL: 8/10

In general terms TLR is a game worthy of your time and money that every jrpg games must at least once experience if u try to be openminded and dont try to relate it to the FF series!

Obviously there is a way to relive the glorious days of games like Beneath a Steel Sky, Curse of the Monkey Island or Maniac Mansion etc. on your android phones or tablets. You just have to download from Play Store the ScummVM app, the appropriate plug in for the game, and the game files (for this step your gonna need your pc as well). What troubled me at first when i run the app to my cell phone was that i saw the ScummVM loading screen and then nothing, total black. I thought at first that the app might be buggy or whatever but then with a little patience i figured it out.

You just have to wait approximately 10-15 seconds after the black screen, and finally the menu screen of ScummVM will be available on ur screen. As easy as that! Try it and you won't be dissappointed!

Top 10 PSP Games

Hello people! What the heck is going on with all the fashion even in the gaming industry?! I cant even begin to try to understand how some (or should i say most) people think! Seriously now, in a world where we have seen games like Final Fantasy or Heavy Rain we think that God of War is "coooool" game?! Come on guys get serious! And i dont have to mention all those sport games like PES that are coming out more often than the antivirus suites! Get yourselves together people! When i want to play a game i mean play! I mean get captivated by the tremendously magnificent plot, or be absorbed by the deep gameplay or have reeeeal fun with the Crash Bandicoot atmosphere, not smash the X's brains out in order to hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit and ... hit! Yeah, dont get me wrong this was nice back then in the Metal Slug era and even now is considered a retro but dont come after 20 years Mr. God of War to sell me your crappy title as something innovative cos i ll have to kick you in the pussy, you stupid egyptian-faced noob!

You see, thats the easy solution nowadays. If u have money u just buy the newest technology means and u make impressive graphics and thats all. But to make some deep gameplay or a magnificent plot, thats what it takes guts talent and creativity!

So owning a PSP since 2006 i have played numerous titles i ve concluded that PSP was a powerful console of its time but it got buried by its titles. Many shallow games, many movie games (like spiderman) and family puzzle games that dont use the console's abilities not even to the minimum. But amongst all that crap i have discovered some true masterpieces of PSP. Lets take a brief look at each of them (thats my opinion of course with which i know that many of you will disagree).

10. Ape Escape: On The Loose

Apes, apes, apes... everywhere!!! There are not really much to say about a so well known title that you won't already know. Its story goes back to the PSX era where the first game of the series was released and it was a colorful fun and catchy 3D platform game! Its offspring on PSP bears the same features making it a fresh new game while holding onto those things that made it great in the past!

9. Castlevania: Dracula X Chornicles

Another classic title made its way to the first portable Playstation and it's the famous Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles. Having many years on its back and travelled through many consoles it comes to PSP in a semi-3D way, keeping the old school side scrolling platform gameplay, and dressed with classic lovely japanese arcade-ish melodies! I think that there is not much more to ask from a Castlevania title especially if you want to re-live glorious past days! So whip those candles' brains out and collect the damn hearts! Its really addictive!

8. Crash Of The Titans

Though i hate the 360' turn that our crazy bandicoot took, i must admit that it feels really fun to play though i was very sceptical at the beggining. If you expect a psycho bandicoot to spin around and collect wumpas and play with its yo-yo then that game is not for you. But dont give up yet and give it a try. The only thing that shares with its predecesors is that it is a 3D platform and there is Crash in it. But everything else is fresh new. Just pretend that it's not a CB game (just say that it's a distant cousin!!!) and you will love it! Im sure of it!

7. Silent Hill Origins

Just another epic horrifying haunted and disturbingly nightmarish adventure in Silent Hill. This time you take Travis Grady, a truck driver, and get deep in Silent Hill as he wants to save a little girl from a burning house. As he does so he gets caught up in all that madness of the deserted town and its Other World that it feels like an itchy and ugly nightmare that u cant wake up from! Full 3D environments, a gameplay that follows the footsteps of the prequels Silent Hill Origins is a really good choice if not the best for the survival horror lovers. And you know how rare are those games on PSP dont you folks?!

6. Tomb Raider Anniversary

Though not being a great fan of the TR series, the TR Anniversary caught my eyes mostly because of one thing! That it is actually a remake of the first Tomb Raider. And believe me. The job that has been done here is great! A classic Tomb Raider title that carries all the well known features of the series with stunning graphics and a really smooth gameplay in 3D free roaming levels. Take our hot renewed Lara Croft and unravel the mysteries behind the ancient artifact of Scion! It will make you want to play more and more (especially if you have palyed the first Tomb Raider in the Playstation)

5. Final Fantasy: Dissidia

Well.... What can I say for that beloved title?! Attempts like that make you wanna go and handshake the creators' hand because they are just marvellous! What FF fan hasnt imagine not even once how would an encounter be one on one of Cloud and Squall?! Come on, i know there is simply none, because I know how passionate the FF fans are and their thoughts cant be just shallow! Being so creative, FFD has gathered every main character from FF I till FFX in one fighting game! The fights take palce in 3D arenas, and the players have a wide variety of skills and attacks at their disposal as limit breaks and more! Many unlockables are there as well as rewards for the demanding and hardcore players!

4. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker

This is another exclusive for the portable Playstation and its great! The metr of espionage Naked Snake comes once again to teach us that can conquer any console his is being played on! Astonishing 3D graphics and a gameplay that combines the classic MGS' and that of squad management makes us think that there are no boundaries and limit for neither Hideo Kojima nor Naked Snake. The title manages to capture the magnificence of its insanely twisted plot and it is full of bonuses and secrets throughout its whole 30 hours of gameplay. The most addictive MGS for our portable companion and if you dont believe me you will just miss all the experience and fun.

3. Ys Seven

I dont know any more if the fashion of the 2D jrpg's nowadays is regarded classic (even in consoles such as PS3) or they are just a bunch of lazybums games. In the 3rd place i was going to present Crimson Gem Saga but because it give me the impression of being just another jrpg that exploits the features of its kind i chose Ys Seven instead. Ys Seven is not the game you will hear everyone talking about, but its definitely a title that every jrpg fan has to play and has everything an action-jrpg craves. 3D nice colorful graphics, classic music tunes that  u can find in games of the genre, nice in-game menu, quick paced real time battles, and fascinating story line, are the things that you should expect to see and they will surely make the 30+ hours of gameplay look like nothing!

2. Tekken 6

I thought just to refer to its name and move on. There are not anything anyone could add for such a title that could be not already known. The course of history has proven greatly which is the king of fighting games and having it transfered to the PSP as well with success, makes us think that it could be done better! With a cast of 41+ characters each one with a few set of moves added and many unlockables Tekken 6 manages to be one of the most addictive fighting games on PSP. When it comes to online mode we could expect some more things but lets not be greedy! It is still an uncomparable title that nobody can match!

1. Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core

Overlooking the damage the Enix has done to every single game of Squaresoft ( I personally despise all the innovations that Enix is responsible for) FFCC could not belong to a less glorious position than the 1st. In CC u gain control of Zack Fair (a SOLDIER member and a friend of Cloud Strife) and) and the events are taking place 7 years before the events of Final Fantasy and umravel the myth behind Zack and the legendary Sephiroth when he was still a member of Shinra! I won't say more because it would be spoiler. So... FF fans you just know what to do!

How Did Zelda Got Her Name?

Miyamoto (the creator of The Legend of Zelda saga) obviously admired Zelda Fitzgerald, a famous novelist back in beggining of 1900. He also found her to be "a famous and beautiful woman from all accounts". And then he named the character after her! Fun fact: Robbin Williams, who is a mega fan of The Legend of Zelda series, named his daughter Zelda as well!
